My weight loss story. My name is Jackie Skehan-Babineau I am 55 years old and recently took steps to change my life for the better. My first baby steps towards this transformation came as I decided to end a 32 year toxic relationship. When I woke up following this decision I found myself having ballooned from a size 12 to a size 20. I had been drinking 6 20 oz. sodas a day. I ignored my health. I decided to keep stepping forward. I gave up soda except for a 12 oz can a day. I decided to watch how many calories and what made up those calories a day. At that point I weighed 210 lbs. on my own I lost 7 lbs. but realized I needed additional help. Having gone to several coed gyms in the past, I had been the victim of ridicule for my size, I decided to give Curves a try. At that time I weighed 203.4 lbs. that was December 2 2016. Since then I have made my diet changes a part of my life. I eat a lean cuisine or similar meal for lunch and then whatever I have for dinner fits into the cleaned out dish from the lunch time meal. It's all about moderation. I go out to dinner and still have a glass of wine with friends but need to count it all into my days allotment. I can honestly say I feel the best I've ever felt. Am the happiest I've ever been. I am healthy physically, emotionally and psychologically. And I am looking forward to my new life and Curves has been a big part of it. I have lost 40 lbs so far and have gone from a 2x shirt and size 20 to a large shirt and a size 10 jeans

I lost 180 lbs. with the help of Curves. On Monday April 27th 2015 I had gone back to my doctor, I had been having a very hard time breathing, had very high blood pressure, both my knees hurt so much I was wearing braces on both of them and often using a cane. The pants in the picture are what I was wearing that day. On that Monday the doctor and I were having the same conversation we had had numerous times about my weight. My doctor told me I needed to have weight loss surgery. She told me it was the only way I ever was going to loose weight. I told her I could loose it without the surgery. She was VERY skeptical, to say the least. When I got home from that appointment I went through the kitchen and threw out all the junk food and replaced it with healthy choices. Everyday I walked farther, and I joined Curves. When I lost 50 lbs I did not need the cane at all. I lost another 25 lbs and the knee braces were not needed. When I had lost 120 lbs I was off the blood pressure meds. I am now at my goal weight. I not only do the smart system at Curves 6 days a week I also walk 3 miles 6 days a week. I feel great. The coaches at Curves are very helpful and knowledgeable about nutrition and of course the circuit. Donna and her staff think of fun challenges to keep the members motivated. The members themselves are a wonderfully diverse group of women. Curves truly is a judgment free gym.
